How to properly fill or refill your Zippo windproof lighter.
Q: What type of fuel should I be using?
A: Zippo lighter fuel is specially formulated for Zippo windproof lighters to ensure clean burning, quick lighting and a long product life.
Q: How do I fuel my windproof lighter? A: Follow these steps for a successful refueling:
- Hold lighter in one hand. Use the other hand to remove the lighter insert.
- Fill slowly and never overfill. Lift the felt pad to reveal the packing material in the fuel chamber. Saturate the packing with genuine Zippo lighter fuel. Stop filling when fuel reaches the top of the packing material.
- Wipe your lighter and your hands dry before igniting. Return lighter insert into case. If fuel is present on the outside of the lighter, do not put it in your pocket or next to skin.
- Be sure the fuel can is closed and there is no spilled fuel in vicinity before igniting. This is flammable fluid.
Q: What do I do if lighter fuel gets on my skin?
A: If fuel gets on your skin, wash the affected area immediately. If irritation persists or worsens, see a doctor.
